Messzire jutott unokatestvérem festő/szobrász Arizonában… Stephen Repasi Artist’s Statement I had started my career as a sculptor, with which I’m still in love with. But I started missing color and the freedom that comes with painting.My latest works try to combine the two as harmoniously as possible, but with varying emphasis on whether the piece will be dominated by the sculptural or the painterly element. The constant search and struggle between the two is leading my work into unexpected directions which is beautiful in itself. Stephen Repasi was born and raised in Hungary. After receiving his Bachelor degree in Fine Arts in 1982 he worked as a graphic artist producing promotional materials, booth decorations for an international book distributor.His work found its way to the largest European book fairs( Frankfurt, Helsinki, Milan, Stockholm, Dijon) Arriving to the United States he continued to work as a graphic artist for a jewelry company, designing artwork for Danbery Mint, Easter Seal, and numerous public institutions. At the same time he started to make his sculpture and later, his mixed media paintings.
